Job description

A well-established consumer goods company reinventing omnichannel commerce and consumer goods is looking for a Principal Data Engineer. The selected candidate must have prior experience working closely with Technical, Product, and Analytical teams and possess a deep understanding of the business needs. The global company boasts an innovation engine that delivers high-quality items via digital markets, platforms, and merchants. The company has managed to secure $3 bn+ in funding so far. This role requires some overlap with the EST time zone.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead, architect, design, and develop secure, scalable, high-performance and reliable, and cost-effective data platform software and services in an AWS Cloud environment
  • Work with tech leaders to develop the company's vision and strategy
  • Establish a strong relationship and trust with architecture, information security, and development teams across the organization to prioritize and deliver quality projects on schedule 
  • Work with end-users to translate business challenges and apply data analysis to solve problems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver large-scale strategic projects and perform other operational tasks
  • Encourage the development and standardization of platform components and technologies that can serve as the building blocks for downstream systems to consume data

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 10+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, software engineering, and analytics
  • Expert skills in designing and implementing data platforms and pipelines that are dependable, scalable, and performant
  • Experience conveying technical challenges to cross-functional groups  
  • Ability to successfully communicate in a clear, concise manner
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and work under tight deadlines 
  • Flexibility to change course based on business needs or environmental conditions
  • Prior experience manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets 
  • Demonstrated experience with analytics, metrics, and benchmarking to drive decisions
  • Extensive Python programming and software engineering expertise
  • Prolific experience with SQL and data analysis
  • Knowledge of reporting technologies such as PowerBI and Tableau
  • Experience with AWS and data processing services
  • Working knowledge of workflow management systems such as airflow or oozie
