Job description

A greenfield startup looking to disrupt the e-commerce space using data and technology to bring revolutionary changes to the industry is looking for a Senior Back-End Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements in existing systems and platforms. The fast-growing company is building an innovative platform to deliver optimal pricing for brands and customers. This is an exciting opportunity for communicative developers who are not afraid to ask for help or feedback, share knowledge, and help other colleagues.

  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Write clean, well-tested code that is easy to read and understand
  • Work on building reliable and scalable distributed systems
  • Oversee the technical strategy for its performance, availability, and quality
  • Ensure projects are realistic, interesting, and fun
  • Guide and mentor fellow developers with clarity and empathy
  • Ensure the code is scalable and maintainable
  • Lead and scope technical projects with clear Software Architecture
  • Deeply understand the customer base to create the best tools to serve their businesses

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of experience working as a back-end engineer
  • 5+ years of experience making significant contributions developing software in a highly challenging technical enterprise environment
  • Experience working extensively with Java and Spring
  • Experience providing expertise on optimization, networks, database architecture, performance testing, or application frameworks
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies to manage successful projects
  • Ability to communicate effectively across a range of industries with diverse technologies
  • Experience in collaborating with remote/offshore development teams
  • Extensive hands-on experience in developing cloud systems at scale on AWS
  • Experience with the technical direction of projects, arbitrating major technical decisions, and collaborating on product development
  • Nice to have some experience with Lombok, React.js, Big Data, and Machine Learning
  • Experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and AWS (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.) is desirable
  • Experience scaling engineering organizations in the past 
  • Deep understanding of the importance of tools, processes, thoughtful organization design, and strong culture in growing teams
  • Ability to think long-term, prioritize, write and review code, stabilize, deploy, streamline, and optimize
  • Experience with a continuously deployed SaaS product 
  • Good sense for vision and strategy, and ability to communicate it to stakeholders and translate this into execution
  • Ability to collaborate with others to drive initiatives forward
