Job description

A U.S.-based company developing a travel meta-search engine used to book inter-city buses, and trains is looking for a Python Back-End Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, improving, maintaining, and troubleshooting the entire platform and back-end systems. The company's goal is to make it possible for anybody to travel between any two locations, with a particular emphasis on the most challenging modes of transportation, primarily the bus and train. The company has managed to secure $8 mn+ during their Series A round of funding. This position requires a significant overlap with the EST time zone. 


Job Responsibilities:

  • Build scalable solutions from scratch and work on improving the existing applications
  • Actively analyze website performance and take necessary software decisions
  • Identify and mitigate performance-related bottlenecks 
  • Write and maintain clean codes and participate in daily virtual standups 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience as a back-end engineer
  • Extensive experience in Python and Node.js 
  • Experience with SQL is strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in front-end preferred but not required 
  • Fluent in verbal and written English
