Job description

A rapidly-growing company that has created a travel search tool to assist passengers in finding the lowest prices on bus and rail tickets throughout North America and Europe is looking for a Python Back-End Engineer. The selected candidate will be responsible for collaborating with other developers to build more robust features. The company is an official partner of hundreds of bus and rail companies operating in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. The company has managed to raise more than $8 mn in funding.  

Job Responsibilities:Contribute to the platform and back-end systems design, development, enhancement, maintenance, and troubleshootingCarry out independent development of features and bug fixesPerform integration and unit tests and deploy code to the production serversBuild and influence design decisions and lead cross-cutting technical initiatives to deliveryJob Requirements:Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)At least 6+ years of relevant engineering experience as a software developer Expertise in high-traffic Internet-based products, preferably in a microservice-based environmentExperience in building fast, reliable, and scalable (quality) implementations independently with the appropriate testing coverageUnderstanding a modern programming language such as PythonExperience with Cloud-based infrastructures like AWSExpertise in developing REST APIExperience gathering requirements from business stakeholders and deriving software requirementsExperience mentoring engineers and leading code reviewsProficient in designing systems and relational database schema designExcellent English communication skillsAbility to work effectively with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders alikeProficient in effective troubleshooting and issue-resolution techniquesKnowledge of Docker and GraphQL is a plusFamiliarity with CI/CD/pipeline tools such as Jenkins or Rundeck is nice to have
