Job description

A US-based company that provides customers with ML-based predictions about the latest trends in the beauty and wellness industry, is looking for a Back-end/Data Engineer. The engineer will be helping the existing team to design and implement the next iteration of the data pipeline, storage, and APIs for the SaaS platform. The company provides customers with data-driven insights thereby helping them to arrive at more informed and accurate decisions by channeling cutting-edge machine intelligence systems to analyze and predict consumer behaviors. The company is backed by major investors like Y-Combinator and has managed to raise over $1mn in funding so far. This role requires some time overlap with the EST time zone. This is an excellent opportunity to rub shoulders with industry veterans who have previously worked at firms like Google.

Job Responsibilities:

Work on optimizing data pipelines and ETL processes while venturing and expanding into new markets
Build a data storage solution to help customers fetch related data
Develop internal tools to manage in-house data processes
Build new API to serve feature application and its users with API access
Implement planned features and provide updates about the progress

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
3+ years of relevant experience as a back-end or data engineer
Strong knowledge of Python with data engineering skills
Must be able to transform functional requirements into technical specifications
Must have proven experience in manipulating data and data pipelines, at scale
Prior experience in developing scalable, cloud-hosted, and data serving APIs
Must be able to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for full-stack web apps with ease
Past professional experience of developing systems at scale, using at least one back-end language, preferably Python, on cloud hosting systems like Google Cloud Platform (preferably)
Strong knowledge base in Google Cloud Platforms like BigQuery, AppEngine, and Compute
Nice to have some experience with Redis, Flask, and PostgreSQL
Must possess strong interpersonal skills and fluency in English
