Job description

An early-stage fintech startup on a mission to provide affordable credit solutions to the world’s emerging middle class is looking for a Back-End Software Engineer. The selected candidate will be communicating with executive leadership and necessary team members on a regular basis. The company is developing an alternative credit score and application platform that will allow customers to purchase necessities using store credit financing. They have managed to raise more than $5mn in funding during their Seed round. 

  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and perform bug fixes of application bottlenecks to improve performance
  • Ensure availability and reliability of the services in production
  • Work on designing, developing, and implementing application updates
  • Optimize the platform for faster execution and solve scalability issues
  • Control technical debt through refactoring and new architectural designs

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of experience working as a back-end engineer
  • 2+ years of experience with the development, maintenance, and familiarity with deployments of server applications
  • Experience working with various declarative programming paradigms such as functional programming and object-oriented programming
  • Prolific skills working with *nix systems and building data pipelines
  • Comfortable coordinating with a cross-functional team
  • Experience working with versioning and change management with APIs
