Job description

A US-based company that uses AI-powered technology to process billions of data points and has built a predictive risk model and reward fleets platform investing in safety, is looking for a Back-End Software Engineer. The selected candidate will own large parts of the product and drive the development and roadmap. The company is modernizing the market through a data-driven approach and delivering consumer-grade experiences, thereby helping fleets improve safety and reduce accidents. They have secured $3 mn+ during their Seed round of funding. The developer will be working with a team of veterans who bring strong technical depth from IIT and MIT.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of key parts of the product, and drive it end-to-end working closely with the founding team and customer design partners
  • Deliver high-quality experiences and approach development with a high degree of craft
  • Help the team to build and embody company culture - and set the bar high
  • Support ingestion and real-time analysis for billions of data points, including geospatial data, driving quality indicators from sensors and dashcam feeds
  • Support multiple data sources and account for differences among them
  •  Ensure data quality control by design
  • Build a data-driven risk engine to dynamically price premiums based on heterogeneous data types
  • Build a Domain Specific Language (DSL) to allow underwriters and actuaries create and rapidly iterate on models
  • Use cutting-edge explainable ML to improve model performance and mine predictive signals
  • Build the industry’s first consumer quality insurance platform focused on safety
  • Help prevent accidents by engaging customers and actively supporting them on their safety journey 
  • Bring a product-focused approach and consumer-grade tech to a huge legacy market

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer
  • Experience writing back-end services in statically typed languages
  • Prolific experience working with Golang/Scala/Java/C++
  • Strong experience working with code reviews, honest and kind feedback, and documentation
  • Extensive experience breaking up complex systems into clean reusable components 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and fluently
  • Experience ensuring long-term readability and maintainability of the codebase
