Job description

An emerging company that is providing grocery delivery services to customers on-demand within minutes, is looking for a Back-End Engineer. The developer will be responsible for a lot of early engineering and architecture decisions that will be made across the company. The company is changing the way people do grocery shopping in the Middle East, offering them ultra-fast delivery services. Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop back-end microservices that power customer, rider, and picker mobile apps
  • Work on the company’s Kubernetes infrastructure setup
  • Enable other engineers across the company to work more efficiently and productively by sharing best practices, and developing internal tools
  • Contribute to the open-source software packages that are used on a daily basis

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 6+ years of software development experience with a focus on large-scale microservices
  • At least 4+ years of experience with PHP and Laravel framework
  • Experience with SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) database management systems
  • Knowledge of container and clustering technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm)
  • 2+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience building and monitoring CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience debugging large-scale production systems, tracing and analyzing root causes
  • Professional proficiency in written and spoken English
