Job description
Job responsibilities
- Work in an agile, back-end engineers team to develop new ways of searching and browsing the catalog
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve their understanding of AWS, GCP, and other cloud operations
- Design, build and maintain large-scale back-end microservices
- Set code and performance standards by reviewing code and participating in discussions
- Create unique user experiences and own vendor integration microservices
- Evolve and maintain microservices architecture, including monitoring and alerting systems
- Ensure the team adheres to modern and state-of-the-art software development methodology and best practices
- Interact cross-functionally and with a large spectrum of competencies
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
- At least 5+ years of relevant experience in developing scalable back-end web services using Scala language
- Hands-on expertise with Scala, Elasticsearch, Event queues, and Kubernetes
- Strong competency in building and managing multiple external API integrations
- Professional experience developing data-heavy platforms or APIs
- Demonstrable expertise in building and managing back-end systems and delivering scalable user experiences
- Experience in developing and maintaining a live service
- Ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and diagnose issues
- Prior experience in creating a system design, integrating upstream and downstream components in a complicated web of microservices
- Fluency in English to collaborate with international teams/clients
- Availability to work full-time (40 hours/week) and a 4-hour overlap with the US time zone
Preferred skills
- Expertise in leading industry techniques and technologies
- Eagerness to investigate and answer complex questions based on data
- Experience in using PostgresSQL and AWS or GCP
- Knowledge of software engineering fundamentals
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, dynamic attitude, and pragmatic mindset
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
