Job description
Job responsibilities
- Understand and execute our standardized software engineering procedures to design, create, document, review, test, analyze, and release code
- Produce high-quality code with adequate test coverage, by leveraging modern abstractions and frameworks
- Take on difficult jobs by putting your problem-solving and analytical skills to work
- Collaborate with other team members such as product managers, UI/UX designers, developers, system analysts, and marketing managers, to formulate the required software solutions
- Create specifications and operational documentation in collaboration with technical authors
- Develop new/existing software applications by doing research, designing, and developing new/existing software applications
- Identify and enhance places where our present systems may be improved
- Resolve difficulties with integration and compatibility with our software applications
- Ensure excellent speed and minimal latency, by monitoring software systems and applications
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of software engineering experience (rare exceptions for highly-skilled developers)
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages, frameworks, and libraries, such as React, Node, Python, JavaScript, React Native, PHP, Vue, Java, Golang, Ruby on Rails, Angular, and Django, among others
- Excellent computational problem-solving skills and expert understanding of designing, coding, debugging, and testing procedures
- Strong computer science fundamentals with an excellent understanding of data structures and algorithms
- Technical competency with a logical, analytical approach to problems
- Experience in web/mobile application development, Unix/Linux environments, distributed/parallel systems, information retrieval, networking, or systems/security software engineering
- The ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) along with a minimum of 4 hours/day overlap with US time zones
- Fluency in English to communicate effectively with engineering managers in U.S. companies
Preferred skills
- Familiarity with the whole web stack, including front-end and back-end technologies, frameworks, libraries, and other web server optimization techniques
- Deep understanding of large systems, complex code bases, and version control systems such as Git
- Understanding of concepts such as local storage, caching, effective memory usage, code optimization, scaling, throughput, etc.
- The capability to function and find effective solutions to problems without hand-holding and micromanagement
- The ability to use constructive feedback to continuously grow and improve
