Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Work in an agile, back-end engineers team to develop new ways of searching and browsing the catalog
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve their understanding of AWS, GCP, and other cloud operations
  • Design, build and maintain large-scale back-end microservices
  • Set code and performance standards by reviewing code and participating in discussions
  • Create unique user experiences and own vendor integration microservices
  • Evolve and maintain microservices architecture, including monitoring and alerting systems
  • Ensure the team adheres to modern and state-of-the-art software development methodology and best practices
  • Interact cross-functionally and with a large spectrum of competencies

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience in developing scalable back-end web services using Scala language
  • Hands-on expertise with Scala, Elasticsearch, Event queues, and Kubernetes
  • Strong competency in building and managing multiple external API integrations
  • Professional experience developing data-heavy platforms or APIs
  • Demonstrable expertise in building and managing back-end systems and delivering scalable user experiences
  • Experience in developing and maintaining a live service
  • Ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and diagnose issues
  • Prior experience in creating a system design, integrating upstream and downstream components in a complicated web of microservices
  • Fluency in English to collaborate with international teams/clients
  • Availability to work full-time (40 hours/week) and a 4-hour overlap with the US time zone

  • Eagerness to investigate and answer complex questions based on data
  • Experience in using PostgresSQL and AWS or GCP
  • Knowledge of software engineering fundamentals
