Job description
Job responsibilities
- Gather software requirements, define software architecture, and estimate effort to determine the development roadmap
- Implement software development best practices, processes, and tools to maintain high standards of software
- Analyze complex technical problems, diagnose the root cause, and suggest the best solution
- Take charge of code reviews and thorough documentation of the released code
- Mentor junior software engineers
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
- At least 5+ years of embedded software design experience
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C and C++
- Demonstrable experience in embedded systems, technologies, and development environments
- Good working experience on industrial automation platforms, including PLCs, RTUs, and DCS systems
- Proven expertise in designing, developing, and debugging software
- Solid understanding of all stages of the software development lifecycle in an agile environment
- Prolific knowledge of deploying development tools including Git, SVN, Jira, Bitbucket, etc.
- Comprehensive understanding of development environments, like Green Hills Compiler/Multi, IAR, MS Visual Studio, etc.
- Hands-on expertise in developing and testing industrial automation protocols
- Experience developing Linux device drivers
- Fluency in English to collaborate with engineering managers and clients
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) with a 4-hour overlap with the US time zone
Preferred skills
- Experience in Operating Systems, e.g. Windows, GHS Integrity, FreeRTOS, and embedded Linux is a plus
- Knowledge of Protocol (TCP/IP, IPv6, OPC UA, MQTT) is preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with automated testing, and writing, deploying, and troubleshooting software
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary, Agile team
