Skills required to become a .NET developer

The first step is to learn the fundamental skills to get good high-paying and remote .NET developer jobs. Let’s dive deeper into each of them!

1. ASP.NET MVC (Model-View-Controller)

In the .NET web development market, the ASP.NET MVC framework is fast gaining traction. This open-source web application framework allows .NET developers to easily create beautifully styled web apps while using the newest client-side web development capabilities. With ASP.NET MVC, unit testing is also made easy

2. Web development technologies for clients

Developers with .NET programming skills who can create engaging online apps are more likely to earn higher as .NET developer, especially if they have a strong portfolio. Some of the most popular client-side web development technologies that you can consider are as follows: HTML, CSS and JavaScript - jQuery - Bootstrap.

3. Databases

This is a valuable skill to find remote .NET developer jobs. Although working with Microsoft .NET needs some programming knowledge, it is compatible with practically every major database. SQL experience is required, but familiarity with technologies such as Entity Framework will help you stand out in today's job market as a .NET developer.

As mentioned, working experience with specific databases, like Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle, will help you get remote .NET developer jobs. Some applications also employ NoSQL databases like MongoDB or CouchDB, and knowing how to use them could help you negotiate a better .NET developer salary.

4. Developer of Microsoft Certified Solutions (MCSD)

The Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) certification will help you grow as a .NET developer. The certificate is valuable since it has been developed and is maintained by Microsoft. However, it requires recertification every two years. Employers know that a developer who has earned an MCSD certification is up to date and meets the minimum .NET development proficiency requirements. MCSD is a difficult certification but there are numerous resources and publications available to assist you in studying for the exams.
