Job description

A rapidly-growing platform revolutionizing the used car industry with a technology-driven, seamless customer experience is looking for a Staff Software Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for creating a state-of-the-art flow and ease of design that will help make the process more fun and transparent. The company is dedicated to providing comprehensive, digital solutions throughout the car ownership lifecycle. The selected candidate will collaborate with the team to build a one-of-a-kind experience for customers.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the tech stack and technical processes by participating in technical design and project planning and leading the development of critical projects
  • Work with product and design to understand and address business and user needs
  • Demonstrate best practices by delivering high-quality, testable, and maintainable code
  • Provide technical leadership for engineers with supportive but candid feedback in code reviews and architecture documents
  • Put core technology projects on the company roadmap
  • Contribute to cross-functional team decisions to advance the tech stack and improve development velocity, quality, performance, and security

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 10+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer 
  • Extensive experience in Ruby on Rails, AWS, or GCP
  • Proven track record of working across engineering, product, and design teams and influencing their work to successfully launch critical projects
  • At least 10+ years of experience in back-end and API development in Ruby on Rails
  • Experience in RESTful API development
  • Solid DB experience with Postgres and ActiveRecords
  • Prior experience developing with AWS or GCP
  • Experience with monitoring and instrumentation tech such as Segment, New Relic, Datadog, Pingdom and PagerDuty
  • Nice to have experience working in e-commerce
  • Experience in the automotive or loan orientation sector is preferred 
  • Demonstrable experience building a platform
  • Experience working at a startup is a plus 
  • Fluent in verbal and written English
