Job description

A fast-growing company revolutionizing hotel operations through mobile-optimized property management solutions is looking for a Ruby on Rails Software Engineer. The engineer will help build highly reliable and scalable applications, with a focus on service-oriented applications, HTTP transactions, and data processing scripts. The company is delivering a unique approach to how hotels manage operations, increase margin, connect, and engage guests. The candidate will collaborate with the product management and other stakeholders within the engineering team to maintain a high bar for quality in a fast-paced, iterative environment. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work in an agile team to build diverse applications in a broad infrastructure
  • Champion improvements to software quality, security, and performance
  • Use various methods such as data modeling, query optimization, and caching to improve the overall performance of applications
  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization
  • Actively promote a sound culture for participation in code reviews and examining the team’s Pull Requests
  • Contribute new ideas to help improve the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
  • Mentor other developers and take ownership of stories, tasks, and bugs in JIRA

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience in Ruby on Rails
  • 6+ years of relevant software engineering experience
  • Ability to write complicated code while employing design patterns
  • Advanced hands-on knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL
  • Significant contribution to specifications and planning processes
  • Conversant with Agile concepts, Event-driven, Git, Micro-service, Mocking, ORM, RESTful, SOAP, TDD, and AWS
  • Core competency in front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
  • An active GitHub account with open-source contributions
  • Prior experience working in the hospitality industry or a SaaS company is nice to have
  • Proficiency in AWS cloud services is desirable
