Job description

A U.S-based company that helps businesses all across the world with their parking and transit needs for employees, is looking for a Ruby on Rails Engineer. The selected candidate will be responsible for creating componentized user interface architectures with reusable UI components. The company integrates hardware and software so that clients may get the most out of their current equipment. The company has managed to raise $4mn+ in funding so far.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Play a key part in the planning and development of big features that affect thousands of people
  • Work throughout the full stack to produce high-quality, maintainable code
  • Create and try to provide great user experiences
  • Write only enough code and collaborate on the intended functionality by using test-driven and behavior-driven development (TDD and BDD)
  • Ensure that clean but practical design and user interfaces are driving factors
  • Analyze data retention and regulatory requirements in order to develop scalable data architecture solutions using common patterns and approaches
  • Conduct product demos and collaborate with teams to increase product acceptability and sign-offs
  • Take complete responsibility for projects and features, from concept through development and deployment

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer
  • Extensive knowledge of Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Experience with Ruby gem/tools like Sidekiq, Devise, Omniauth Papertrail, dd-trace, lograge, and RSpec
  • Knowledge of high-performance, low-latency pure cloud architectures
  • Knowledge of AWS and Heroku
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB
  • Ability to resolve performance and scalability issues in the cloud
  • Experience with REST web services design and implementation
  • Familiarity with common software development tools such as Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Confluence, Jira, etc.
  • Experience building strong processes and managing other engineers is a plus
  • Ability to tackle full-stack performance optimization challenges is nice to have
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies is desirable
  • Experience in release workflows and pipelines via API to achieve CI and CD using standard orchestration tools is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in English
