Job description

A US-based company that provides specialized and delicious office lunches from nearby local restaurants is looking for a Ruby on Rails Engineer. The engineer will be tasked with understanding client requirements, collaborating with necessary teams, and converting requirements into product features. The company is tapping into the power of ML technology to recommend meals, manage staff allowances, provide reminders, and gather feedback. Job Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement solid, scalable, and adaptable back-end systems
  • Collaborate with front-end and data engineers to provide customers with new features
  • Maintain a healthy back-end service and troubleshoot live issues
  • Create unit testable and highly maintainable code for the service
  • Back-end stacks should be improved and optimized for better shape and faster response
  • Come up with great new feature ideas and better ways to implement existing ones

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer
  • Experience in Javascript, Ruby, and Python
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable/cloud-based architectures for production-grade back-end applications 
  • Familiarity with AWS; ec2 Load Balancing, Auto-scaling, Cloud Watch, and Aurora
  • Database engineering experience, including SQL/GraphQL with million-size relational records 
  • Capability to create relational schemas that are appropriate for specific use cases
  • In-depth knowledge of web technologies, data structures, and algorithms
  • Familiarity with Ruby on Rails and relational databases is nice to have
  • Nice to have experience with A/B/C experiments with clustering, designing, and tracking efforts
  • Excellent team communication skills, including writing and verbal abilities
