Job description

A U.S.-based company that specializes in planning excellent online restaurant fundraisers for charitable organizations that strives to make a positive impact on society, is looking for a Ruby Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for creating and implementing internal tools that will increase team efficiency as they communicate. The company's web platform enables shops and restaurants to interact with a larger and more diverse consumer base. The company has managed to successfully raise $640K+ in funding so far.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create new technologies that will help supporters and organizers communicate and generate more money for causes
  • Enhance the management tools already used by restaurants to oversee their philanthropic initiatives
  • Implement fundamental UX concepts for event planners, supporters, restaurants and retailers
  • Work with a remarkably brilliant international team
  • Ease the web experience for the platform’s users, half of whom are not particularly tech-savvy

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer
  • Prolific experience working with Ruby and Ruby on Rails
  • Demonstrable experience working with Ruby server-side development
  • Solid understanding of Linux or Unix-like command line tools like Git version control
  • Nice to have some experience with JavaScript and SQL
  • Prior experience utilizing JavaScript (particularly React), CSS, or Ruby on Rails in mid-size or larger projects is desirable
  • Some expertise with modern web development approaches, such as data-driven iteration, automated testing, cross-browser testing, and pull request-based processes, is nice to have
  • Excellent conversational and written English communication skills
