Job description

A US-based energy technology company enabling major brands to provide new resilience, decarbonization, and electrification solutions to their customers is looking for a Front-End Developer. The selected candidate will be working in close collaboration with the existing team to build an efficient online platform. The company is on a mission to battle climate change, bring about positive change, implement solutions that are both good for business and the environment, and create healthier buildings and transportation options. This position requires some overlap with the EST time zone and will be a full-time, long-term role. They have managed to raise $15mn+ in funding so far. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and implementation of the user interface
  • Participate in the process of feature design and discovery
  • Engage in the technical project planning
  • Lead the pull request/feedback process, as well as technical discussions and other team meetings like estimation and planning sessions
  • Form groups with other team members and create useful unit and integration tests
  • Ensure applications are designed for speed and scalability
  • Develop RESTful APIs, build and improve the UI Component libraries
  • Help review and integrate third-party applications and frameworks
  • Take charge of improving the code quality and your own abilities

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience as a front-end developer
  • Experience writing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript using React/Redux is a must
  • Technical Leadership experience, including the determination of requirements and related breakdown of the work into stories and tasks, is a must
  • Strong UX and UI design sense and can participate in design sessions
  • Must have knowledge of front-end build tooling such as Webpack
  • Experience with CSS preprocessors and bundlers, e.g., SASS or LESS is required
  • Must be able to write automated UI tests
  • Proficiency with Git is a must
  • Experience with Phoenix or Rails is nice to have
  • Hands-on professional experience with Ruby or Elixir is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of Postgres or other relational databases is nice to have
  • Nice to have knowledge of building cloud-based Applications using Amazon Web Services, including S3 Buckets
  • Working with data-intensive web applications is nice to have
  • Familiarity with container technologies and CI/CD workflows is preferred
  • Must be comfortable at the command line
  • Code debugging and optimization abilities
  • Respect for best practices that result in clean, tested, and well-documented code
  • Knowledge of the entire scope of application development: authentication, API integration, build and deploy processes, testing, logging, and alerting state management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
