Job description

A U.S.-based company that is developing a shipping platform to assist e-commerce businesses in managing their shipping operations, is looking for a Business Intelligence Data Analyst. The selected candidate will be responsible for creating a compelling shipping experience for customers. The company's goal is to even out the playing field by giving businesses access to shipping tools and terms that they otherwise wouldn't have. The company has managed to secure more than $152mn during their Series E round of funding. This position requires 6+ hours of overlap with the PST time zone. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build analytics systems to process and transform data
  • Connect to multiple shipping carriers around the world from one API and dashboard
  • Build a self-serve platform for internal stakeholders and external customers
  • Build analytics systems to process and transform data of massive scale into valuable operational and business insights for our internal and external customers
  • Build and maintain the business intelligence infrastructure and tools to present data with the most effective data visualization techniques and artifacts 
  • Ensure that stakeholders are able to digest the insights from the analyzed datasets
  • Design, develop, scale, and evolve our self-service business intelligence solutions (e.g. Reports/Dashboards/Visualizations)
  • Utilize business intelligence technologies to convert business needs into effective visualizations, dashboards, and reports.
  • Improve the data models and data elements that business intelligence tools rely on by working together with data engineering and business teams 
  • This will make data more accessible and encourage data-informed decision-making throughout the organization
  • Continuously identify opportunities and demands for better data management, quality, and delivery
  • Communicate and explain findings and suggestions at various levels with a definite bias toward effective learning and outcomes
  • Be a living example of the company's culture in your daily interactions and work
  • Promote the use of data to guide decisions

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer
  • Strong background in Data and Business Analysis
  • 2+ years of experience working with BI or data engineering
  • Extensive experiences working with one or more BI platforms, such as Tableau and Looker
  • Working knowledge of data modeling (for example, dimensional modeling) and data analysis in a data warehouse
  • Comprehensive knowledge of SQL and the capacity to create and analyze complex SQL queries
  • Excellent knowledge of database management systems and the ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) framework Quick to pick up new skills and applications
  • Effective communication, presentation, and problem-solving abilities
  • Understanding of business processes, best practices, data lifecycles, and standard operating procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of customer requirements and a drive for client success
  • Display your commitment to excellence in craftsmanship, ongoing improvement, and team success
  • Experience working with implementing the ETL process is nice to have
  • Experience with Python and Looker Platform is desirable
  • Solid experience with Cloud Data Warehouses like AWS Redshift is preferred
  • Some knowledge of Source Control(git) and CI/CD pipelines is desirable
  • Nice to have some experience with advanced data analysis using Machine Learning
  • Possess problem-solving aptitude
  • Good English communication skills
