Job description
Job responsibilities
- Take ownership of end-to-end product/feature development for all phases of SDLC
- Design and develop back-end and API features to software solutions
- Mentor team to produce well-organized, optimized, testable, and clean source code
- Build highly scalable, available, and reliable software systems
- Conduct unit tests and review code to ensure accuracy, functionality, scalability, and maintainability
- Communicate with product managers and stakeholders to translate their vision into technical solutions
- Participate in hiring, leading, and mentoring talented junior engineers
- Collaborate with cross-functional leads and guide teams on following software engineering best practices
- Be responsible for leading team towards excellence in all aspects including software architecture, design documentation, peer review, development, and delivery
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
- At least 3+ years of back-end development experience (rare exceptions for highly skilled developers)
- Extensive experience in delivering high quality, tested, and clean code
- Proficient with developing large-scale distributed systems and products
- Experience in designing and delivering APIs and back-end services
- Solid understanding of one or more programming languages including Python, Java, NodeJS, Golang, etc.
- Expertise in at least one web framework, like Ruby on Rails, Django, Laravel, ExpressJS, etc.
- Strong knowledge of multithreading, collections, systems programming, etc.
- Well-versed with multiple databases like RDBMS, NoSQL, Redis, and messaging services including Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, etc.
- Fluency in English language for effective communication
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) with a 4 hour overlap with US time zones
Preferred skills
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker containers
- Experience in cloud deployment or CI/CD
- Good understanding of data structure & algorithm
- Knowledge of open source tools & frameworks
- Active contributor to developer communities like Stackoverflow, Github, etc.
- Good reasoning, analytical, consultative, and communication skills
