Job description

An NYSE-listed company building large-scale impactful products that will revolutionize the big data and cloud computing industry is looking for a Senior Software Engineer. The engineer will be involved in developing and executing core features for the platform. The company's goal is to enable people and businesses to turn complicated data into understandable and useful insights. The company has managed to securely raise close to $1bn in funding so far.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Write clean, robust code while paying close attention to detail and focusing on quality
  • Take charge of the primary storage and storage access layers which are core to the company’s data platform
  • Execute tasks related to performance tuning while implementing performance optimizations
  • Identify and remedy performance bottlenecks
  • Help the existing team to build a brand new distributed storage system

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer
  • 3+ years of experience working with Java and C++
  • Demonstrable experience working with data structures and CS algorithms
  • Experience with system software design and development 
  • Solid understanding of computer architecture, storage, network, and IO subsystems
  • Some experience with large-scale, distributed systems design and development with an understanding of scaling, replication, consistency, and high availability is nice to have
  • Knowledge of distributed storage systems including file systems, database storage internals, NoSQL storage, or distributed hash tables is desirable
  • Nice to have some understanding of Apache Hadoop and related ecosystems like MapReduce, HBase, Hive, Spark, etc.
  • Recognized contributions to open source projects
  • Solid understanding of Paxos, RAFT, or related distributed consensus protocols is desirable
  • Excellent English communication skills
