Job description

An NYSE-listed company providing a cloud-based enterprise data platform for any type of data is looking for a Senior Software Engineer. The selected candidate will be supporting existing customers while driving the company’s product maintenance releases. The Silicon Valley-based company is enforcing fine-grained, role-based authorization to data and metadata stored on a Hadoop cluster that customers can use across the globe. They have raised around $1bn in funding so far. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform system test analysis, deliver improvements, bug fixes, and backports
  • Debug issues at the customer deployments, root cause analysis, and resolve failures
  • Respond to customer requests and escalations, deliver maintenance releases for the data platforms, and ship patches and hotfixes to customers
  • Work on different components, on the test framework, and automation tools
  • Exhibit a solid understanding and deep technical knowledge of Hadoop components and utilize them in daily tasks
  • Work on improving the internal infrastructure
  • Understand and address complex problems and systems

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 4+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer
  • 4+ years of experience working extensively with Java
  • Prolific experience with relational databases like ER modeling and performance optimization 
  • Familiarity with MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle
  • Demonstrable experience developing in Linux environments
  • Experience with collaboration tools like Jenkins and Jira
  • Familiarity with additional development tools such as JUnit, Maven, and Jenkins is nice to have
  • Experience in distributed computing or high availability systems is desirable
  • Nice to have extensive Big Data / NoSQL / distributed database experience
  • Previous experience contributing to open source technologies and test automation
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
