Job description

A U.S.-based company that is developing an integrated multi-omics platform that evaluates synthetic biology and informatics techniques, is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for keeping track of production problems, diagnosing them, and offering prompt solutions. The company is developing a proprietary technology to help customers track biological processes at a scale and resolution that have never been achieved before. The company has managed to secure $48mn+ during their Series A round of funding. This will be a long-term, full-time position requiring a significant overlap with the PST time zone. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in code reviews and offer helpful criticism to ensure the quality of the code and compliance with coding standards
  • Document APIs, architecture, and technical specifications
  • Continually improve the scalability and performance of APIs
  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable and dependable APIs utilizing AWS services like Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB
  • Ensure high-quality code and avoid regressions while creating and maintaining automated tests utilizing TDD techniques
  • Work together with cross-functional teams to collect needs, create new features and functionalities, and put them into use

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a software developer
  • Demonstrable experience with Test Driven Development, TypeScript, and API Development
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS including Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, and IoT is desirable
  • Strong understanding of networking, Security, and Optimization is preferred
  • Nice to have some high-volume experience with data handling and Agile methodologies
  • Solid understanding of Databases and the design of complex systems is nice to have
  • Excellent conversational and written English communication
