Job description

A US-based company that has created a platform that enables lenders and borrowers to combine critical insights, automate contract-based compliance, and proactively curb risk with greater transparency is looking for a Senior Java Engineer. The selected candidate will work closely with the lead developers to develop the code and solve challenges around scalability, performance, and shared use features. The company is focused on building the future of project finance for renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure under the leadership of highly experienced industry professionals. Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with members of the engineering and product teams to identify implementation approaches and potential functionality gaps
  • When resolving issues with the product, customer success, and sales teams, act as a technical voice and functionality expert
  • Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge development to assist in the implementation of new code, debugging of existing code, and problem resolution
  • Collaborate with front-end developers to ensure a positive end-user experience with APIs that have been implemented
  • Break down large stories into manageable tasks and estimate time requirements
  • Third-party libraries should be recommended for use in story delivery
  • Provide second-tier production assistance
  • Promote and use healthy coding practices and Agile methodologies
  • Develop financial and cleantech subject matter expertise
  • Keep up with new technologies and industry trends to help inform engineering decisions

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3-5+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer
  • Experience with Java and Java Persistence API (JPA) programming with a track record of delivering high-quality, maintainable code
  • Demonstrable expertise in software testing methodologies and test automation frameworks
  • Proficiency in Scrum and Agile methodologies 
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deliver promptly
  • Knowledge of JavaScript together with one or more of its frameworks is highly desirable
  • Experience building interfaces to third-party systems is nice to have
  • Experience working with Postgres is a plus
  • Experience implementing SSO or similar in enterprise applications is nice to have
  • Cloud technology experience (AWS) is a plus
  • Prior experience in the financial services industry is a plus
  • Experience with other technologies like Vue, Quasar, and AWS S3 is nice to have
  • Capable of debugging, diagnosing, and correcting errors
  • Capable of conducting code reviews and providing useful feedback to developers
  • Clear verbal and written English communication skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to recognize gaps and learn quickly
  • Ability to adapt to evolving technologies with good team and people skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to function in ambiguity
