Job description

A US-based company on a mission to help fund the construction of the next generation of infrastructure projects is looking for a Senior Java Engineer. The engineer will be reporting to the VP of Engineering and responsible for helping the company meet their product and business goals. The company’s advanced technology helps lenders originate, service, and syndicate loans to infrastructure projects at higher volume and lower cost. This is an amazing opportunity for developers who are passionate about tackling multifaceted problems.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and implementation of larger user stories
  • Work with lead developers to actualize code solving challenges of scalability, performance, and shared use features
  • Assist and mentor junior developers who use these modules
  • Develop scalable, performant, and maintainable Java APIs using Spring Boot and JPA
  • Work with JUnit and Mockito to maintain high coverage unit tests
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to determine implementation approaches and potential gaps
  • Serve as a technical expert when solving problems with the product, customer success, and sales teams
  • Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge development to help implement new code, debug existing code, and resolve bottlenecks 
  • Work in tandem with front-end developers to ensure proper end-user experience around implemented APIs
  • Divide complex tasks into workable assignments and estimate time requirements
  • Recommend third-party libraries for use and implementation 
  • Provide 2nd tier production support to the team 
  • Advocate and apply coding best practices and Agile methodologies
  • Perform code reviews and stay updated on new technologies and industry trends to help inform engineering decisions

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3-5+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer 
  • Proficiency in programming with Java and Java Persistence API (JPA) 
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality, maintainable code
  • Understanding software testing methodologies and test automation frameworks
  • Able to debug, diagnose, and correct errors 
  • Proficiency in Scrum and Agile methodologies 
  • Excellent organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and deliver them on priority
  • Clear verbal and written English communication to explain and discuss complex concepts and ideas with the team members and other cross-functional stakeholders
  • Intellectual curiosity with the ability to take not of gaps, learn quickly, and adapt to evolving technologies
  • Have a good startup mindset and creative problem-solving skills
  •  Capacity to function in ambiguity with limited oversight and rapid delivery cadences
  • Profound skills in teamwork with cultural and emotional intelligence to work with ease in a diverse environment 
  • Prolific skills in JavaScript and its frameworks
  • Experience building interfaces in third party systems
  • Experience working with Postgres and implementing SSO or similar in enterprise applications
  • Cloud technology experience (AWS)
  • Expertise in financial services or FinTech is a plus
  • Experience with other technologies in our stack: JavaScript, Vue, Quasar, AWS S3
