Job description

A US-based company accelerating the deployment of solar, wind, and other key infrastructure by combining financial and technological innovation is looking for a Senior Java Engineer. The selected candidate will be responsible for partnering with members of the technical and product teams to assess deployment strategies and any capability gaps. The organization is mobilizing finance to speed up the new generation of infrastructure investments that will supply basic services, including energy, to everyone in the world. Job Responsibilities:

  • Own the design and implementation of larger user stories
  • Work together with the leadership team to tackle code issues and solve challenges relating to scalability, performance, and shared use features
  • Mentor junior developers who use software development modules
  • Develop testable, performant, and maintainable Java APIs using Spring Boot and JPA
  • Deploy JUnit and Mockito to ensure high coverage unit tests
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to determine implementation approaches and performance bottlenecks 
  • Serve as a technical expert and solve problems with the product, customer success, and sales teams
  • Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge development to assist in the implementation of new code, debug existing code, and resolve problems
  • Collaborate with the front-end to ensure enhanced user experience around implemented APIs
  • Recommend third-party libraries for story deliveries
  • Advocate for best coding practices and utilization of agile methodologies
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and industry trends to help inform engineering decisions

 Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3-5+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer 
  • Extensive experience in Java and Java Persistence API (JPA) programming with a track record of delivering high-quality code
  • Solid understanding of software testing methodologies and test automation frameworks
  • Ability to debug, diagnose, and correct errors 
  • Ability to perform code reviews and provide useful feedback for developers
  • Proficiency in Scrum and Agile methodologies 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to recognize gaps, learn quickly, and adapt to evolving technologies
  • Problem-solving and the ability to function in ambiguity 
  • Nice to have experience in JavaScript and its frameworks
  • Prior experience building interfaces to third party systems
  • Experience working with Postgres and implementing SSO in enterprise applications
  • Experience in Cloud technology (AWS)
  • Prior experience with financial services or FinTech is a plus
  • Demonstrable experience in JavaScript, Vue, Quasar, and AWS S3
  • Fluent in verbal and written English
