Job description

A U.S.-based company that operates a commercial mortgage brokerage with a cutting-edge membership structure is looking for a Senior Java Developer. The developer will be participating in the team’s research, testing, and learning initiatives to advance the practices of back-end engineering. The company is revolutionizing the commercial Real Estate finance industry. The company has managed to secure more than $18mn in funding so far.

Job Responsibilities:

Develop Serverless APIs utilizing Java and the AWS SDK to communicate with various databases and back-ends to meet the platform's requirements
Use Java 11+, DynamoDB, RDS, and other tools to create AWS Serverless APIs
Participate actively in the rewriting and estimating of stories for the product backlog with the product, engineering, and design teams
Work autonomously and with self-accountability as a member of a remote team that values strong communication
Continually deliver value for the increasing needs of our growing customer base
Engage in research, concept development, and active contribution to the evolution of front-end software engineering practices

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
At least 8+ years of relevant experience as a back-end or software developer
5+ years of front-end development experience
Demonstrable experience with AWS and Java
Extensive experience working with Java 11+, DynamoDB, RDS, and AWS Serverless/Lambda framework
Demonstrable experience building and working with REST/GraphQL APIs
Prolific working experience with Authentication and Authorization providers like Cognito, Auth0, etc.
Extensive experience with Git and relevant best practices
Proficient knowledge of HTML, CSS, and jQuery
Prior experience working within agile teams and actively participating in various agile ceremonies
Nice to have 2+ years of experience working with AWS Lambdas/Serverless functions and SAM CLI
Prior experience working with docker containers and various Java testing tools/frameworks like Mockito, JUnit, etc. is desirable
Fluent in spoken and written English communication skills
