Job description

A U.S.-based fast-growing startup that is simplifying the way people hunt for and find jobs is looking for a Lead Back-End Engineer to support their efforts. The selected candidate would be responsible for building new consumer products as well as maintaining/expanding existing services. This job discovery and recruitment liaison company is on the mission to build a tool that supercharges the job search process for job seekers. This is an ideal position for engineers enthusiastic about building products that positively impact people’s lives.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and oversee new projects and features 
  • Maintain and expand existing applications and API services 
  • Design and architect new systems with little to no oversight
  • Build internal tools and dashboards in order to streamline engineering efforts  
  • Optimize elastic systems and focus on scraping/parsing infrastructure 
  • Collaborate and brainstorm with internal team members over async schedules

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3-5+ years of relevant experience as a Back-End Engineer
  • Advanced skills with Python, PostgreSQL, and Pydantic
  • Previous experience with frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django
  • Strong understanding of Google Cloud Platform and Elasticsearch
  • Familiarity with serverless and async concepts
  • Understanding of Redis for caching and burstable databases
  • Strong comprehension of Docker
  • Passion for writing high-quality code and solving challenging math problems
  • Demonstrable skill in writing great tests with PyTest
  • Ability to write high-quality code using tools like MyPy, Black, and Flake8
  • Previous experience with Google Cloud Functions and Google Cloud Run would be a plus
  • Experience in Scraping, NLP/Parsing, and ORM experience with SQLAlchemy would be nice to have
  • Prior NodeJS, TypeScript, or Next.js experience would be desirable 
  • Background in Numpy, NLP, or Machine Learning would be appreciated
  • Should possess the ability to architect new services
  • Great English communication skills
