Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Lead the development of high-performing, scalable, responsive and available back-end infrastructure
  • Contribute to the processes of site architecture, feature components, development process, SDLC tools, and system design
  • Transform product requirements and technical designs into a well-structured, clean, scalable and robust code

  • Explore new technologies or methodologies to improve the architecture, user experience, and the overall development process
  • Participate in code reviews, pay attention to feedback and share your knowledge with other team members and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new growth initiatives
  • Recognize performance bottlenecks, propose and implement effective solutions

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or IT (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in back-end software development (rare exceptions for highly skilled developers)
  • In-depth understanding of web development and recent development experience with Ruby/Node

  • Strong experience with programming languages like Java, Ruby, PHP and Python
  • Sound knowledge and expertise in CMS framework
  • Solid understanding of server-side CSS preprocessors, such as LESS and SASS
  • Strong grasp of software engineering development cycles, software engineering fundamentals and their practical applications
  • Knowledge of back-end services or distributed systems
  • Expertise in OOP languages like Java, Python, R, Ruby, Perl, etc. and tools like PostgreSQL and Redis
  • Fluent in English to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) with a 4 hour overlap with US time zones

Preferred skills

  • Knowledge of front-end technologies and platforms like JavaScript, HTML, CSS etc.
  • Understanding of accessibility and security compliance
  • Familiarity with libraries and tools for engineers and operations
