Job description

A well-established online video streaming platform that offers millions of users across the world a wide range of sports and entertainment options is looking for a Junior Android Engineer. The selected candidate will be working with industry veterans across teams to design and implement new features. The company offers their services in more than 16 languages and covers every major sporting event in the world. They have managed to successfully raise $200 mn+ in funding so far. 


Job Responsibilities:

  • Assess and implement company’s features and products
  • Incorporate engineering best practices and patterns to improve the development lifecycle for the Android discipline
  • Take ownership of the mobile app development scalability across engineering, product, and other disciplines 
  • Provide insights to the team on how the company can refine processes and tools to support additional contributors in code architecture
  • Drive feature development for top products for smartphones and tablets
  • Take ownership of end-to-end products, from development to maintenance of core app frameworks 
  • Create prototypes and explore new technologies at the forefront of mobile applications 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 6+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer 
  • Must have prior experience working on Android apps on a large scale
  • Solid understanding of design principles
  • Ability to work autonomously and lead teams in the process 
  • A minimum of 6+ years of experience in Android mobile applications development 
  • Comprehensive understanding of Android Architecture, Framework, Android SDK, Core Java, Android Studio IDE, and Android Debugger
  • Hands-on experience building mobile applications and mobility solutions – native applications
  • Working knowledge of UI components & controls, including Action Bars, Widgets, Fragments, etc.
  • Prolific experience working with basic Android components, including Activity, Services, Intent, Broadcast Receiver, Content Provider
  • Hands-on experience working on Web Service Integration ( REST, JSON, XML) & cloud technologies such as AWS, GAE, GCM
  • Thorough knowledge of a range of mobility areas such as Enterprise mobility, Mobile applications pertaining to various domains 
  • Demonstrable experience using analytics, location and social APIs, MDM, payment gateway, SMS gateway, media content transcoding, cloud integration, APM tools
  • Proficient in verbal and written English
