Backend Engineer

An emerging platform for intelligent revenue management is looking for a Backend Engineer. As part of the team, the engineer will play a hands-on role in the core backend technologies, including the design and implementation of APIs, data queries, modeling, and application performance improvements. The candidate will participate in the design and architectural direction, understand the requirements and implement the most critical components and features. The AI platform generates a holistic meaning to structured and unstructured sources of sales data. It has built a market composed of large B2B companies constituting up to $10+ bn in the total available market. This is an excellent opportunity for the selected candidate to collaborate in a team founded by SaaS entrepreneurs from Google, Yahoo, etc., and funded by top venture capital firms.  

Job Responsibilities:

• Produce high quality, maintainable, and scalable software 
• Participate in the design and development of a new architecture for existing software modules and applications 
• Diagnose issues on production systems proactively using various monitoring tools
• Work as part of a team, perform code reviews, and apply technical expertise to complex problems
• Build scalable API alongside the front-end engineers to maintain exciting products for the customers 
• Work closely with the DevOps team to provide insight into operational, security, and performance considerations 
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization including customer success, product, and design teams 

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of experience in building applications using Python 
• Sound experience with Flask, Django (or similar) frameworks 
• Good knowledge of MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL and writing efficient queries, data modeling, etc.
• Experience with data profiling and maintaining code quality 
• Ability to learn new technologies, possess a strong sense of ownership, and take pride in your work 
• Proficiency in building data pipelines is a plus
• Capable of thriving in ambiguous situations, knowing when to take initiative, and move forward 
• Passionate about developer and customer experience 
• Well versed in software engineering best practices including high-quality code, thorough testing, and appropriate documentation 
• Capable of showing empathy to customers and their needs
