Job description

A well-established company operating in the technology and transportation industry, is looking for a Back-end Engineer. The engineer will be driving best engineering practices within the team and contributing to the vision and long-term strategy of the back-end chapter of the company. The platform allows customers to book inter/intra-city rides along predetermined routes at fixed rates. The company has managed to raise more than $170mn in funding so far. Job Responsibilities:

  • Actively contribute to featured platform and system architecture
  • Promote the best practices of engineering within own team and for back-end systems
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to ensure product quality
  • Develop long-term vision and strategy for the back-end development cycle
  • Work on designing, developing, deploying, and operating microservices for millions of users
  • Troubleshoot and fix complicated problems by transforming business obstacles into technical solutions
  • Offer guidance to fellow engineers by deeply engaging with teams to increase their impact on engineering
  • Develop reliable, reusable, and fail-safe frameworks and abstractions 
  • Locate and resolve major architectural issues delving deep into your expertise or different teams

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 8 years of experience as a back-end engineer
  • Prior experience in working with Node.js, Go, and Python
  • Nice to have some experience with GraphQL, gRPC, Kafka, and Kubernetes
  • In-depth knowledge of relational, SQL, NoSQL databases, and database design related tasks
  • Prior experience in developing, shipping and maintaining web applications and systems
  • Should be able to offer guidance to engineers while instilling the engineering practices
  • Must possess a solid understanding of software design patterns
  • Experienced in working in a microservices environment with containers and container orchestration
  • Strong communication with fluency in English to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences
