Backend Developer

A fast-growing company building a fitness and lifestyle community for women is looking for a Backend Developer. The developer will be responsible for creating and developing products to promote and grow the fitness brand. The platform influences millions of women to gain confidence and reach their goals. Through the founders, the company has been featured in Forbes and Vogue for its efforts in the health, wellness, and fitness industry. It is a full-time, long-term opportunity to collaborate on building lasting and impactful solutions. The role requires a minimum of 4+ hours of time overlap with PST.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work on designing and developing APIs
• Maintain quality engineering, secure, testable, and scalable code
• Collaborate across multiple projects and platforms to support the product
• Stay informed on all existing, new, and emerging technologies including best practices 

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of experience as a full-stack developer
• 2+ years of experience as a Node.js developer
• 3+ years of experience with responsive design
• Strong experience in designing, building, maintaining, testing, and integrating REST APIs in legacy and microservices environments
• Experience with JavaScript, GraphQL, and Apollo Client/Server
• Demonstrable expertise with SQL and database fundamentals
• Proven ability to master multiple programming languages
• Experience with AWS including Lambda with Serverless framework, API Gateway, Elasticache, EC2, and RDS
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD systems
• Proficiency with Docker and Docker-based build and deployment systems
• Strong experience with React Native for web applications and campaign-driven, responsive marketing 
• Strong understanding of web performance and payload optimization
• Expertise in ensuring cross-browser and cross-device compatibility
• Strong experience with Git and Gitflow
• Strong experience will Linux, system administration, and shell scripting
• Knowledge of security best practices (e.g. OWASP)
• Familiarity with cloud-based DevOps best practices
• Demonstrated ability to balance the workload of multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• A proven work ethic, integrity, and positive attitude
• Prior experience with e-commerce e.g. Shopify or similar (API integration and private app development) is a bonus
• Experience working with modern headless CMS platforms, JAMstack, and Gatsby (or similar) is nice to have
