Job description

A rapidly-growing healthtech startup that enables users to quickly search for hospitals and compare prices is looking for a Back-End/ML Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for designing the database, ML algorithm, and integrating the completed back-end with the front-end for a functional web app. The company strives to make healthcare pricing information and health plans more accessible to people and reimagine the patient experience. This will be a full-time, long-term role requiring some overlap with the EST time zone. It is an excellent opportunity for developers to work in a highly collaborative and agile software development environment while coordinating closely with leadership.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Execute the full software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Integrate software components into a fully functional software system
  • Document and maintain software functionality
  • Deploy programs and evaluate user feedback
  • Comply with project plans and industry standards
  • Build a scalable, reliable, and high-quality application

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a back-end or ML engineer
  • Proven working experience in Python and Java
  • Familiarity with databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the entire software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control (GitHub), etc.
  • Excellent understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
  • Experience with one or more of the following: text understanding, classification, pattern recognition, recommendation systems, Natural Language Processing is nice to have
  • Experience with machine learning libraries is desirable
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize activities and deliver projects on time and within budget
