Job description

A US-based company creating a centralized planning software that modernizes how the government prioritizes, plans, and funds, is looking for a Back-End Engineer. The engineer will work closely with the product development team to build and maintain the critical platform APIs. The company is committed to transforming public sector planning and delivering the people, process, and technology that equip agencies to effectively meet pressing needs and deliver cutting-edge capabilities. Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the Agile methodology and organic, team-led culture of the development team
  • Take responsibility and ownership for the delivery of important back-end services
  • Using Java, Spring, and Hibernate, create and maintain RESTful APIs
  • To ensure high-quality team outputs, contribute to Automated Functional and Performance Testing capabilities
  • Manage technical debt and aid in delivering the product roadmap features
  • Work on processes for detecting and remediating API security vulnerabilities
  • Ensure that third-party libraries are kept up to date
  • Build successful product capabilities in collaboration with product managers, designers, and UI developers
  • Manage continuous testing, build, and deployment processes in collaboration with the Development Operations
  • Support 2-4 monthly product releases
  • Provide responsive engineering help for the resolution of customer service concerns

 Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a back-end engineer
  • 5+ years of Java development experience in lean, aggressive Agile team environments
  • Experience with full lifecycle enterprise application development
  • Knowledge of scaling enterprise applications via full-stack performance engineering
  • Knowledge of RESTful API design and micro-services architecture
  • Experience in database design and advanced SQL querying
  • MySQL and Elastic Search experience
  • Knowledge of Secure programming practices and vulnerability remediation
  • Expertise in AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Experience with full-stack performance engineering and tools is nice to have
  • Experience with JavaScript, Typescript, and React is desirable
  • Track record of ownership and accountability for business-critical application delivery
  • Willingness to tackle tough problems with resourcefulness and a positive attitude
  • Passionate for technology, learning new skill sets, process automation, and product innovation
