Job description

A rapidly-growing company that has established an innovative platform that enables users to uncover their full genetic potential, is looking for a Back-End Engineer. The engineer will be tasked with building, maintaining and scaling the back-end systems of the platform while developing a long-term vision for the product. The US-based platform helps people to uncover interesting facts with their DNA data and help businesses build, market, and perform research with it. During their Seed round, the company raised more than $9mn in funding. This will be a long-term, full-time role requiring 6-8+ hours overlap with the PST time zone. 


Job Responsibilities:

  • Build a scalable, robust, and well-maintained architecture for the company’s genotype data 
  • Deliver high performant applications and continually work to enhance user experience
  • Work in a cross-functional team to build new features and troubleshoot issues
  • Define, document, and evaluate system architecture regularly
  • Conduct code reviews, fix bugs, and suggest improvements 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a back-end engineer
  • Extensive experience in AWS, EMR, Docker, and Hadoop
  • Prolific experience in Genomics and Bioinformatics is required
  • Solid background in bioinformatics and genomic data is a plus 
  • Nice to have passion for the healthcare industry
