Job description

A US-based company that is building a unified platform that combines insight and automation to accelerate the ability of insurance brokers, is looking for a Back-End Engineer. The engineer will be in charge of developing reusable code and technical documents while rolling out new features. The company is developing technology that connects diverse industry data and provides relevant data and tool management solutions. They have managed to secure $3.5mn+ during their Seed round of funding. This will be a long-term, full-time position requiring some overlap with the EST time zone. 

  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Should be able to learn new technologies quickly
  • Take charge of your own codebase
  • Create and implement team-wide processes to ensure that all developers are on the same page
  • Work collaboratively with the engineering team on all aspects of development
  • Utilize various modern tools, tech stacks, and services for the application 
  • Accept accountability for your delivery and timeliness
  • Help build the SaaS data platform for Insurance brokers 
  • Take part in team meetings with the executive and engineering teams

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of experience working as a back-end engineer
  • Must have an experience in the modern programming language - Kotlin, Scala, Java, Python, Go, Typescript, etc.
  • Must have knowledge of cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
  • Great English communication skills
  • Experience with microservices is a must
  • Experience with large-scale data processing frameworks like Apache Spark, Apache Flink, etc., is nice to have
  • Familiarity with emerging trends in desktop, web, and mobile app development is a bonus
  • Experience with deployments, DevOps, and/or AWS will be appreciated
  • Knowledge of modern front-end technologies: React, Redux, GraphQL, etc. is nice to have
