Back-End Engineer

A US-based company that enables organizations of all sizes to collect from and engage with donors efficiently is looking for a Back-End Engineer. The engineer will produce high-quality code while considering technical factors (performance, extensibility, etc.) and product factors (user experience, business goals, etc.). The platform operates by allowing users to round-up credit or debit card purchases with the change automatically donated back to their favorite charity. The company has raised over $1mn during the Seed funding round. This will be a full-time opportunity that requires an overlap with the EST time zone.

Job Responsibilities:

• Make architectural decisions as we scale our API back-end and database
• Be comfortable both with solving technical problems from scratch and leveraging tools and libraries
• Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency
• Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software
• Come up with new functionalities, tools, technologies and actually build them

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
• At least 3+ years of relevant back-end engineering experience 
• Must have some experience in PHP, MySQL, and PostgreSQL
• Solid engineering capability with an eye towards performance
• Ability to write code that is clean, properly architected, maintainable, and scalable
