Job description

A fast-growing company using technology to power the digital distribution of commercial insurance is looking for a Back-End Engineer. The selected candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing reliable, low-latency, and highly performant applications. The company's software allows commercial insurance agents to profitably sell and serve small business policies while also assisting them in better managing their enterprises. The company has managed to secure more than $6mn during its Series A round of funding. This will be a long-term, full-time role.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Interact directly with product owners to help turn use cases into solid engineering solutions
  • Collaborate with other engineers to identify and solve challenging problems
  • Participate in the full development life cycle, including design, coding, testing, and production release
  • Architect, design, and develop back-end systems with the high performance, scalability, and availability requirements
  • Be a crafts individual and encourage code craftsmanship across the team
  • Deliver code in an agile team environment
  • Drive innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development
  • Promote sound engineering practices, drive technical excellence and strategy
  • Contribute to design discussions with key stakeholders at various levels

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 4-6+ years of relevant experience as a back-end engineer
  • Must have demonstrable expertise with Node.js
  • Experience in Vue.js is nice to have
  • Ability to ship high-quality code quickly and efficiently
  • Prior experience developing and executing automated unit, functional, and integration tests
  • Familiar with optimizing database structure and queries for growth
  • Passionate about technology and developing robust, scalable, state of the art software systems
