Job description

A U.S-based company that operates as a global online and mobile shipping marketplace is looking for a Back-End Developer. The selected candidate will be responsible for creating APIs in collaboration with front-end developers to build the product. The company's technologies assist clients in locating independent carriers traveling in its direction, allowing them to obtain the most competitive quotations on the market. This position requires an overlap with the U.S. time zone. The company has managed to raise close to $1 mn in funding. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and keep up the backend services
  • Build APIs in cooperation with front-end programmers to meet their demands
  • Work along with operations engineers to assist with the cloud deployment of the services
  • Create the database technologies and schemas that the services will utilize
  • Work together with the data science team to give them the information they require
  • Enhance CI/CD pipelines and work together with other stakeholders

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a software developer
  • 5+ years of experience building APIs and back-ends with Node.js
  • Knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+)
  • Familiarity with Typescript and a preference for static typing
  • Experience with testing frameworks and a desire to write tests
  • Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases
  • Ability to bring up a new microservice from scratch to fulfill product requirements
  • Knowledge of AWS and Rust is nice to have
  • Experience working remotely is nice to have
  • Experience with Terraform or similar IaC tools is a plus
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions or Gitlab CI is nice to have
  • Familiarity with other backend technologies and languages, such as Elixir, Golang, Python, Ruby, etc., is a plus
  • Experience with PostGIS or other geospatial databases is desirable
  • Passionate about functional programming
  • Good team player and strong English communication skills
  • Ability to mentor less experienced colleagues
  • Self-motivated and proactive
