Job description

A well-established company that is transforming the way hospitals operate by improving how records are kept and operations are managed, is looking for a Back-End Developer. The developer will be tasked with optimizing the application for maximum speed and scalability. The company uses high-value technology to provide creative solutions for healthcare stakeholders in emerging markets. During their Series A round, the company raised $12 mn+ in funding. This will be a long-term and full-time position that requires some overlap with the WAT time zone.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and support existing production code in the field 
  • Integrate user-facing elements developed by a front-end developer with the API
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Develop and distribute new features and products to the client base
  • Collaborate with teams and engineers across the company to deliver meaningful solutions
  • Develop secure, robust, high-performance service applications using Elixir, Phoenix, and PHP
  • Provision, configure and develop against remote infrastructure in AWS

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3-6+ years of relevant experience as a back-end developer
  • Demonstrable software architectural experience
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Demonstrable skills working with Elixir, Ruby, Phoenix, and PHP
  • Good to have some knowledge of Jenkins, Docker
  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and key-value stores (Memcache, Redis)
  • Experience working on the separation of centralized services into microservices
  • Experience with Git, Ansible/Chef/Puppet, or similar tools
  • Pride in readable, well-designed, well-tested software.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
