A US-based rapidly scaling fast delivery app developer is looking for a Back-end Engineer. The developer will collaborate with product teams and engineering professionals to optimize the platform for faster execution and solve scalability issues. The company is the delivery arm of the largest grocery retailer in the South West US and is expanding to deliver all goods and services in their local community. The company has secured $30+ mn worth of funding during its Series B round. This is an exciting opportunity for developers to work in an agile startup environment while tackling complex challenges.

Job Responsibilities:

• Write clean, well-tested code, with a test first or TDD approach as a plus
• Work with other engineers in a collaborative and iterative environment
• Express complex technical issues in a precise, concise, and unambiguous manner
• Communicate well with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Implement atomic tests with the lowest side effects and a solid understanding of test automation techniques

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
• 6+ years of software engineering experience
• Ability to lead more significant initiatives working with the product, design, and engineering teams
• Competency with software design patterns to write clean, well-structured, idiomatic code leveraging the full power of a language
• Create solutions to problems under various constraints using novel algorithms and data structures
• The capability to define software requirements considering multiple patterns and strategies to build efficient solutions
• Familiarity with system architecture and diagnosis 
• Sound expertise in REST + JSON, API versioning strategies, and security best practices
• Previous experience in a high-growth startup
• Nice to have some proficiency with one or more of the following technologies: PHP, Scala, Kotlin, Java, MySQL, Postgres, Kafka
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, Elasticsearch, JUnit, Jenkins is preferred
• Can read and understand execution plan to optimize table structure and tune queries
