Job description

A fast growing US-based company that focuses on helping employers to identify problematic behaviour among potential hires, is looking for a Senior Data Scientist. The scientist will be obtaining and preparing data, implementing, training, and deploying models, monitoring their performance, and working with teammates to provide insights and data-driven assistance. The company’s AI-powered candidate screening solutions analyzes publicly available data, and helps HR managers to identify problematic behaviours like bigotry and harassment among current or potential employees. The company has managed to secure $7.7mn in funding so far. This will be a long-term role and requires some overlap with the PST time zone. This is a great opportunity for those who would like to work on building innovative solutions and collaborate with industry leaders.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work on designing, developing, implementing, and deploying machine learning-related models that process natural language and images
  • Identify relevant data sources and automate data collection procedures
  • Take charge of analysis and pre-process data for ensuring trained models have low variance
  • Develop systems and tools for monitoring, visualizing, and analyzing the performance of production models
  • Collaborate with different teams within the company to identify areas that can be improved and enable new processes and products using data science 
  • Build data products and tools for internal use
  • Contribute ideas based on data-driven insights, solutions, and strategies to handle business challenges

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. statistics, computer science)
  • 5+ years experience as a data scientist applying quantitative methods to solve business and product problems
  • Must have 3+ years of experience in all phases of managing data science projects - problem definition, solution formulation, model building, production, and delivering measurable impact
  • Proficient with ML concepts, with experience in working with deep networks, model development, statistics, data visualization, and optimization
  • Must be updated with modern NLP techniques (BERT), and libraries like spaCy, hugging-face and transformers
  • An expert in Python development-related data stacks like - Numpy, Scikit-Learn, and Tensorflow
  • Past experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams for the development of machine learning products
  • Professional experience with Java is preferable 
  • Knowledge of designing Human-in-the-loop machine learning architecture would be an advantage
  • A background in Computer Vision would be beneficial
  • Must possess a curious and innovative mindset focused on quality
  • Should possess a problem-solving attitude with excellent communication skills
  • Open to working in a dynamic, applied-research group with several ongoing concurrent projects
