Senior Full-Stack Ruby on Rails Engineer

A U.S.-based company that is building a live learning platform that links professionals and students with on-demand, individualized teaching for any subject, is looking for a Senior Full-Stack Ruby on Rails Engineer. The engineer should be prepared to absorb knowledge from some of the finest and brightest in the field. The company is determined to revolutionize the Edtech industry by leveraging modern technology to build a better educational support system for the coming generations. The company has managed to secure $105mn+ during their Series C round of funding. This position requires 6+ hours of overlap with the EST/PST time zone. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop well-documented, readable, performant, and maintainable code
• Establish automated tests to carefully confirm the accuracy of the code
• Focus on quality and work iteratively to improve upon what is already good
• Participate in the team's on-call rotation; assume full responsibility for the code from development to deployment and operations
• Work both independently and collectively as a team in a busy and dynamic environment
• Efficiently deploy large-scale web applications
• Work well in a collaborative atmosphere with product management, design, and other engineers

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
• At least 5+ years of relevant experience as a full-stack engineer
• Extensive experience working with AWS, React, and Ruby on Rails
• In-depth knowledge of deployment tools such as GitHub Actions and AWS CodeDeploy
• Prolific experience with AWS Services, like RDS, Lambda, EC2, etc
• Familiarity with command-line tools and the Linux operating system
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and OO design
• Ability to pick up new languages and technologies fast when required
• Fluent in spoken and written English communication
