Job description

A rapidly-growing company rebuilding innovative financial products to empower and engage employees is looking for a Senior Full-Stack, Back-End-Heavy Engineer. The selected candidate must have an understanding of concepts like concurrency and reactive programming. The company is on a mission to give people control over their income and finances. This will be a long-term, full-time position that requires some overlap with Brazil, US, or European time zones. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Promote advancements to product grade, security, and performance with a particular impact across your team and others
  • Solve high-level technical problems and complexity for your team
  • Exercise meaningful influence on the general objectives and long-range team goals 
  • Guide the purpose and advancement of the internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale web environment
  • Maintain and advocate for high standards through code reviews
  • Drive innovation on the team with a willingness to experiment and boldly confront complex problems 
  • Actively seek out difficult impediments to the team's efficiency 
  • Solve technical debt, propose, and implement solutions to enable faster iterations
  • Provide mentorship for all engineers and help them grow in their technical responsibilities 
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure community contributions receive a swift response
  • Confidently ship large features and modifications with minimal direction and support from other team members
  • Collaborate with the team on larger projects and eliminate blockers 
  • Write clean reusable interfaces that maximize functionality and maintenance
  • Work closely with the Product Management and other stakeholders within the Engineering team (Frontend, UX, etc.) to maintain a high bar for quality in a fast-paced, iterative environment

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 6+ years of relevant experience as a full-stack or back-end developer
  • 4+ years of experience working with Golang is nice to have
  • Experience working with SQL/NoSQL databases
  • Strong background in building distributed systems using Java or other object-oriented languages such as C#, C++, Python, or Golang
  • Ability to write complex queries and optimize them (preferably PostgreSQL and DynamoDB)
  • Experience in a peak performance organization, preferably a tech startup
  • A track record of working in a product company with solid AWS experience
  • Understanding of containerization technologies like Docker, RKT, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Basic experience with CI/CD systems
  • Demonstrated capacity to clearly and concisely communicate about complex technical, architectural, and organizational problems and propose thorough iterative solutions
  • Experience working with a remote, global, or otherwise multicultural team
  • Extensive experience with open source and developer tools
  • Prior leadership experience and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to clearly, concisely, and effectively communicate in both writing and conversation
  • Experience with performance and optimization problems along with the ability to diagnose and prevent them
  • Deep understanding of good software design patterns with a healthy passion for refactoring and simplicity
