Job description

A US-based social network platform for education that offers students learning through content, community, and courses, is looking for a Full-Stack Engineer. The developer will be responsible for developing new features and workflows that will help deliver a world-class product experience. The VC-backed platform enables students to be productive at home by connecting with other students virtually to get their work done. They have managed to raise more than $15mn during their Series A round of funding. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with engineering, design, and product to scope and deliver well-tested, maintainable new features
  • Optimize and iterate upon existing features and systems
  • Support back-end engineers in revamping and optimizing the back-end systems
  • Prioritize quality by instilling best practices for automated testing and monitoring
  • Learn and leverage frameworks across the entire stack (MongoDB, Express, React, NextJS, NodeJS, SocketIO, Terraform, Google Cloud, Sentry, DataDog, etc.)
  • Lead the end-to-end development single-handedly and experiment with new features
  • Propose possibilities to improve the product and/or developer experience based on technological capabilities
  • Spend equal amounts of time coding, architecting, and scoping larger projects

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5-10+ years of relevant experience as a full-stack engineer
  • Experience with React and NextJS
  • Experience with or an interest in designing real-time apps using Websockets or WebRTC
  • Experience with Test Driven Development
  • Knowledge of back-end software design patterns is nice to have
  • Prior design experience, comfortable working independently on new features
  • Experience working on greenfield projects and experimenting with new features
  • Extensive MERN stack experience especially MongoDB and ExpressJS
  • Prior experience developing public or private APIs
  • Experience improving developer experiences through DevOps or other tooling like Terraform, Docker, Circle CI / Jenkins, etc.
  • Strong technical prowess, agility, and communication skills
