Senior Back-End Engineer

A US-based company on a mission to eliminate the friction of transmitting money across borders by leveling the global economic playing field is looking for a Senior Back-End Engineer. The selected candidate will be tasked with building and fostering a stable, scalable, agile environment. The company believes that cryptocurrency will create a new standard for secure online payments, allowing people and merchants to operate seamlessly. The company has managed to raise more than $11 mn in funding so far. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Work with the team on Node.js, Typescript, Feather.js, and other JS frameworks
• Design, build, and test the internal and external APIs
• Own full software development lifecycle, from ideation and discovery through deployment and support
• Build scalable, reusable APIs that improve both user and developer experience
• Promote clean code through continuous refactoring while innovating features
• Create and cultivate a team of positivity, inclusivity, transparency, learning, and trust
• Pair with team members, mentor, and grow together 
• Write understandable, testable code with an eye toward maintenance, scalability, and performance
• Work with the team to deliver bug-free code using best practices such as rate-limiting, fault-tolerance, CI/CD, canary releases, test automation, and observability
• Actively engage in technical discussions, code reviews, and brainstorming sessions to help promote a culture of learning 
• Become a subject matter expert in integrations, working closely with a diverse set of integration partners across the globe

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
• At least 4+ years of relevant experience as a back-end engineer
• Prior expertise in building internal and external APIs that are scalable, reliable, and secure
• Extensive experience in MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Typescript, Node.js, or similar JS frameworks
• Prior experience in unit and integration testing
• Solid understanding of industry best practices and comfortable with web standards
• Ability to unify infrastructure and reduce development lead times
• Passionate about iterative design
• Demonstrable experience working on Open Source project(s)
• Ability to work under ambiguous situations
• Proven track record of consistently hitting deadlines, working efficiently and to an exceptionally high standard
• Background in navigating and influencing complex stakeholder relationships
• Analytical capabilities and strong business and financial acumen
• Excellent verbal and written English communication
