Job description

An innovative technology company helping travelers save close to 50% each time they travel is looking for a Senior Back-End Engineer. The engineer will help shape the future development and technical execution for the services that drive the consumer travel app. The company has developed a mobile application that uses Big data to predict and analyze airfare and accommodations for travelers to get the best deals on flights and hotels. It has raised more than $630mn in funding so far. This role requires a 6-8 hours overlap with the PST time zone.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review and make changes to other peoples' code
  • Take charge of the infrastructure and code that will run millions of times 
  • Inspire team members, advocate for best practices, performance, and reliability
  • Fix bugs and oversee the technical health of the product 
  • Contribute to good architectural decisions and avoid pitfalls
  • Deliver complex features and pioneer new functionalities for customers
  • Collaborate directly with the company’s technology leadership 
  • Mentor and coach junior team members

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3-5+ years of relevant experience as a back-end developer
  • Strong experience in Java and willingness to learn Scala or proficiency in both
  • Prior experience working on a multi-country product would be nice to have
  • Experienced in making changes to infrastructure code is preferred
  • Ability to adapt the software to international markets (geo-expansion) will be a plus
