Job description

A U.S.-based company that is developing a revolutionary platform to help businesses ship smarter and more efficiently is looking for a Senior Back-End Engineer. The selected candidate will be working on exciting back-end features that will impact the platform. The company’s comprehensive platform helps businesses reduce shipping costs, automate fulfillment processes, and streamline their operations. This position requires 4+ hours of overlap with the CST time zone. During their Series E round, the company managed to successfully secure $150mn+ in funding. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Take end-to-end ownership over the design and implementation of Core services
  • Develop software services with strong SLAs that can handle millions of requests per day, and then implement, test, and deploy them
  • Utilize microservices, decouple concerns from the data model, queue jobs, layer applications, and distribute software using containers to provide scalability and maintainability
  • Continue to expand and improve our CI/CD pipeline to enable automated testing and verification for slick and secure production releases
  • Check system performance and accuracy in terms of response time and throughput
  • Create and maintain database designs for highly effective services
  • Take charge of the system architecture and refactoring for optimum performance and reusability
  • Contribute to automated test suites, peer reviews, testing, and design evaluations for new features, products, and systems
  • Work together with business teams to contribute early ideas for additional product functionality

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 7+ years of relevant experience as a back-end engineer
  • Extensive coding experience with server-side programming languages like Go/ Python /Java or Ruby, as well as, database languages like SQL
  • Experience working with server-side MVC frameworks like Django, .NET, Spring, Rails, and Phoenix
  • Solid acquaintance with different design and architectural styles and object-oriented programming
  • Thorough knowledge of customer requirements and a drive for client success
  • Display guiding principles that emphasize excellence in craftsmanship, ongoing improvement, and team success
  • Prior experience building scalable APIs or services and an interest in performance tuning, concurrency, microservices, security, data pipelines, and web stack is preferred
  • Prior experience integrating with APIs that use REST, SOAP and other technologies is desirable
  • Nice to have some experience with DevOps tooling such as Docker, Terraform, CircleCI, SumoLogic, PagerDuty, etc
  • Experience with AWS/Cloud services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, Route 53, Cloud Formation, Cloudflare, Familiraity with billing and/or invoice systems (Stripe, Braintree, Zoho, Zuora, Chargebee etc) is desirable
  • Fluent in spoken and written English communication
